Hey Sailfish Families

Weekly Update:

           Balance

September 18-20 is our season opening meet. We need parent timers and tents. Arriving early is on time.

Swimmers should be bringing their hand written goals and discussing them with the coaches at practice this week.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our team logo "Trust the Process" is our 8 point compass for success.

1) Goals lead the FISH. This sets the tone for every practice and eventual performance at a meet.

2) Technique is the key to maximizing efficiency. Are you listening to your coach and training your body or just going through the motions?

3) Building strength for that technique creates initial speed. 10 push up and dips and proper technique repetition.

4) Building endurance for that strength enables swimmers to finish the entire race at speed. Proper technique repetition every length of every practice.

5) N is for nutrition. No food, no fuel, no movement. Carbs before practice. Chocolate milk and protein after.

6) E is for exercise. Consistently, week in week out, practicing the 7 other points.

7) S is for sleep. No rest, no recovery, no chance of doing your best.

8) W is for water = hydration. No oil in the car means the engine freezes up = cramps.

                                                           Upcoming Activities Reminders:

Please bring a water bottle to practice. Everyone should have the team app by now which shows practice days, times/attendance, meet results, and billing etc.

IMR & IMX Events are a great place to start if you are not sure which events to swim!

- The National Age Group Motivational Times are great goal targets to work toward!

Remember to register for team meets early to ensure that you get into the meet. Also, every swimmer should swim every event, every year! If you have a "NT" next to an event that means you have not done that event in a meet yet! Also, your short course times count in long course meets and visa versa.

Reminder that for the short course season in the school year, both the B and BB championships swimmers are automatically entered into those meets when they make the time standard. A and above meets are swimmer's choice. All summer long course championship meets are swimmer's choice.

Athlete Protection Training:

USA Swimming requires all athletes 18+ to complete the APT Core Course by their 18th birthday, followed by annual Refreshers (1–3) to stay eligible. Non-compliance can result in suspension, so it's important for everyone to stay current with this requirement. The course can be found using the link below and by clicking "Athletes" > "18+ Requirements".
